Pay as you feel cafe Armley Junktion has highlighted the plight of a homeless man from the Czech Republic who faces deportation.

The cafe, a regular haunt of Karel Englis (known locally as Charlie), has asked people to contact Leeds West MP Rachel Reeves about the deportation.

Posting on Facebook, the cafe said:

“Charlie has been detained by the immigration police. If you feel that his case should be reviewed please please contact Rachel Reeves to ask her to contest the detention of KAREL ENGLIS, Leeds UK ‪#‎freecharliearmley‬
feel free to use the post code LS122DJ in your email x rachel.reeves.mp@parliament.uk”

Mr Englis, pictured above with The Real Junk Food Project founder Adam Smith, was one of a number of people who received a court order banning them from street drinking in the Armley Town Street area.

UPDATE: Mr Englis has been homeless for much of the past few years, but in the past few months is believed to have been residing with a friend.
