Last night’s Armley Forum meeting saw more than 30 people attend to have their say on local issues.

As well as a clamp down on street drinking on Town Street, there were a number of other issues raised by members of the public the Armley Library meeting.

Here areĀ four other issues residents said needed tackling:

  1. Speeding traffic on Stanningley Road. One resident mentioned problems with speeding traffic Bradford-bound on Stanningley Road. He said: “Nutcases are doing 70 to 80 miles an hour on the stretch between KFC and St Bedes. We need cameras up there.”
  2. Crossing warden on Armley Ridge Road. One resident raised issues with the increasingly busy road due to cycle superhighway roadworks on nearby Stanningley Road. She said she was worried about the safety of pupils from Christ Church School as they crossed the road. The council has said it will look into the matter.
  3. Marston Radiators site. It was mentioned there had been a small fire on the derelict site and queries raised as to when it would be developed. Forum chair Cllr Jim McKenna said a company had earlier this year received full planning permission to build a retail development on the site but would check with planning officers on latest developments.
  4. Work on former Mike’s Carpets building. Cllr Alison Lowe confirmed The Dispatch’s report from earlier this week that work is due to restart on restoring the building on September 21. She said work would begin on remedial work initially and scaffolding erected later.

The forum will next meet on October 20 in Armley Library (7pm).
