Armley Library is now running a bike library so you can borrow a book and a bike at the same time.

Bike libraries are made up of old or unloved bikes which people have donated. You can then borrow the bikes for free.

The libraries encourage more people to get active using cycles and the Armley initiative comes as more people are being encouraged to use the cycle superhighway, which runs past Armley on Stanningley Road, joining Leeds and Bradford.

The bike library was officially opened by Armley councillor Jim McKenna. He said:

“I shall be watching its success very closely indeed.”

Meanwhile, Pudsey’s The Oak Church is one of four organisations in Leeds and Bradford awarded a City Connect cycle superhighway grant to help them become more bike friendly.

The church is directly on the Cycle Superhighway but currently has no cycle parking. The CityConnect grant will help the construction of a new cycle parking shelter to help encourage people to visit the church by bike.
