What’s on: Some cracking Easter events across West Leeds

Stuck for something to do this Easter weekend? Here are some details of events going on in West Leeds throughout the weekend, writes Jill Buckley.

Farsley

At Farsley Working Mens Club the fun starts today (Thursday 13 April) with Easter bingo with big cash prizes and giant Easter eggs up for grabs. Then on Good Friday it’s the children’s Easter disco, Easter Bonnet parade and free face painting courtesy of Nicky Noodles.

Pudsey

Meanwhile in Pudsey at Pudsey Congs Cricket Club there’s an Easter Sunday Eggztravaganza and Spring Craft Fair from 1pm onwards. There’ll be stalls, an egg hunt, party games, food, face painting, Easter bonnet competition, decorate an egg competition and live music from 5pm.

Bramley

In Bramley the Abbey Inn is holding its annual Easter egg hunt on Saturday 15th between 2 and 4pm with cakes and egg decorating.

Bramley Baths will be having an Easter egg hunt with a difference; an underwater egg hunt on Easter Sunday between 11 am and 12:15 pm.

The Old Unicorn is hosting an Easter charity day for Clic Sargent on Saturday from 12 pm, with an Easter egg hunt, tombola, face painting, a colouring competition and an Easter egg raffle.

Armley

In Armley you are invited to St Bartholomews Church on Bank Holiday Monday between1pm and 4pm for the All Together Armley Easter Festival. There will be a fair and arts and crafts, childrens games and more. The festival follows an organ recital between 11 and 12.

Meanwhile the Conservative Club on Theaker Lane invites everyone to their fun day and fair on Easter Sunday. There will be stalls and a barbeque, with an Easter egg hunt for kids, egg and spoon race, an egg decorating competition and an Easter bonnet contest.

Armley Common Right Trust invites you to an Easter egg hunt in Charlie Cake park on Easter Saturday starting at 12.30pm. Entry is a pound for adults but free for children. You are also invited to take along your decorated eggs and bonnets and enter the competition, with two categories for the up to sevens and seven years and over. There will be drinks and entertainment for grown ups too.

New Wortley

At New Wortley Community Centre there’s a baby and kids nearly new sale and Easter egg hunt between 12 pm and 3 pm on Easter Saturday. Proceeds from the event will be donated to Just Talk, an organisation which provides emotional support to those in times of crisis.

Rodley

In Rodley the Barge are holding an Easter extravaganza on Easter Sunday. There’ll be an Easter egg hunt from 2pm with a prize for every entry, though all children must be accompanied by an adult, as well as games and free bouncy castle. There’s live music from 4pm with Feedback as well as an outside bar and a barbeque and evening DJ.

Also in Rodley Aireborough Rotary Club invite you to a Grand Easter Egg Hunt at Rodley Nature Reserve on Easter Sunday between 11 am and 3 pm. I’s free entry with hot food and refreshments, games and a tombola, with all proceeds going to Martin House and other local charities.

Kirkstall Road

At Cardigan Fields in Kirkstall Road Playful Anywhere will be there every day of Easter week between 12 and 6 pm between the Bridgewater Arms and Frankie and Bennys with their self service playbox where kids can enter competitions and enjoy Easter arts and crafts.

So plenty to choose from in West Leeds. Let’s hope the weather is kind to us this weekend!

  1. Join the Burley Easter Egg Trail and see the artwork of some of the youngest members of our community…Don’t forget the Mad Hatter and White Rabbit will be on Burley Village Green on Sunday from 11 till 1 for the Easter Egg Hunt!

  2. Horsforth beer festival is on over the Easter weekend at horsforth cricket club in Hall Park. There’s beer, food, a prosecco bar, a sweet bar for the kids with kids activities too and live music throughout the weekend 🙂
