West Leeds: Library Fest features range of events for all ages

A popular library festival with a huge array of activities and events across the city is due to return – including events across West Leeds.

The fourth edition of ‘Library Fest’ is set to return from Saturday 3rd February – Saturday 17th February.

Featuring in the programme will be performances, story times, crafts, coding, workshops, author events and chances to see treasures from special collections.

Just some of the highlights in West Leeds libraries include:

The British Horror Film

Bramley Library Monday 5th February 11am – 12noon

A talk by local author and film historian, Ian Fryer. Free event – no booking required.

As It Was – Stories from the Mill

Farsley Library, Monday 5th February, 12.30-1.30pm

Guest Speaker- Rachel from Sunnybank Mills Archives has a rich history of cloth making and many tales to tell from the characters that worked in the many skilled roles of the Mills. Take a trip through this rich history through the archives of Sunny Bank Mills and Special collections of Leeds Libraries.

Dinosaur Poop!

Pudsey Library Tuesday 6th February 3.30 – 4.30pm

Discover fascinating facts about a variety of dinosaurs from the size of their
teeth to the poop they left behind. Fun for all the family!

An Armley Odyssey

Armley Library Tuesday 6th February 1.30 – 2.15pm

See the imagined story of Armley Library’s most overdue book, as told in a short film produced by students from Swallow Hill Community College. Free event – no booking required.

Lego Club

Farsley Library. Every first Wednesday of the month on Wednesday 7th February
3.30 – 4.30pm

Design and create your own robots to blast off into space using LittleBits and Lego.

Chatterbooks! Frankenstein200

Armley Library Wednesday 7th February 4.00 – 5.00pm

Join us for a special Chatterbooks! celebrating 200 years of Mary Shelley’s novel Frankenstein. We will be creating our own monsters using various craft materials, Lego and Little Bits. For children aged between 6 and 11 years old. Free event – no booking required.

The Storytellers – Fairy Tales

Relaxing with Crafting

Armley Library Thurs 8th February all day

Make a mood board, a gratitude jar and relax with Zentangling and book folding.
