2016 has been a really busy year in West Leeds!
We’ve regularly featured the clearing up after the aftermath of Kirkstall floods, the future of Bramley Library, the ongoing regeneration of Armley Town Street and battles to stop housing in Pudsey, Farnley and Calverley.

5. Leeds bus strike
The bus strikes in Leeds affected thousands of people as workers from Bramley and Hunslet First Bus depots took part in industrial action. The result led to massive disruption of people’s commutes into work.
4. World’s End has licence revoked
Pudsey’s World’s End pub had its licence revoked following problems witn disorder at the pub. Interesting to note that the pub is still trading – preumably after an appeal.
3. Jobs at Kirkstall Matalan!
The advertising of jobs at the new Kirkstall Matalan certainly peaked an interest as thousands of you read our story about the creation of 39 sales assistant jobs there.
2. ‘Mad Max’ bikers down Kirkstall Road
Hallowe’en 2016 will last long in the memory of those caught in the chaos when a group of rogue bikers brought Kirkstall Road to a standstill.
1. Racial abuse of Polish shopkeeper in Bramley
Sad that this is the most read story of 2016 but it ‘wins’ by a fair margin – read more than 15,000 times. It sparked an outcry on social media, which is one positive at least. Let’s hope 2017 brings something more positive.
