West Leeds businesses urged to get litter picking

Litter is sadly becoming a big and visible problem in Leeds, as it is across the rest of the country, writes Lucy Ravenhall.

It has been found that 62% of people living in England drop litter, and the council can only do so much within their set budget.

With this in mind, Armley-based Forge Waste & Recycling are offering all businesses in West Leeds and beyond a free litter picking kit this spring and summer, to help clean up their local area.

Businesses who claim one of these kits will be provided with litter pickers, bags, hi-vis vests and gloves for each volunteer. The sacks of rubbish will then be collected by Forge when the litter pick is complete.

If you would like to take up this offer, all you need to do is round up a willing bunch of volunteers – most employees and colleagues will jump at the chance to improve the area they work in, especially if the litter pick takes place within your usual working hours.
