A group of volunteers who hold monthly clean-ups on the riverbank in Burley and Kirkstall are holding their latest tidy up with a Himalayan Balsam weed-bashing session. The event will be help tomorrow (Saturday, 30 June 2018). PHIL MARKEN of Team Kirkstall has the details…

This weekend’s volunteer day will be at Burley Mills Woods – starting at the entrance to St Ann’s Mills on Kirkstall Road.

Your leaders on the day will be Bobby, Phil, Pete – and they will answer any questions you have as well as making sure the day goes safely and is a lot of fun.

We will meet at 9.50am to talk through the plan for the day, including the risk assessment and a talk about what tools we will use on the day.

You can access the meeting point walking along Kirkstall Road, out of town, past the Ready Steady Store on to Big Mc’s Container Storage (large roadside sign) and we will meet down that path.

We begin work at 10am and work until 2pm weather permitting. We break for tea at 12 noon and then continue until 2pm.

Really hope to see you all there and make some great headway into an area that seriously needs some love and attention – together we can really make a difference and get it looking beautiful and on the way to being a better habitat for local wildlife.

Thank you all so much for your continued support, help and encouraging commitment – it means the world to us! if you can’t make it, please share, so others can!

After the volunteer day, please join us for lunch at the West End Pub, paid for by us as a great big thank you for the hard work everybody has put in on the day!
