Stanningley: Extra store at Belgrave Retail Park approved

Fresh plans for the new Belgrave Retail Park development in Stanningley have been approved by Leeds City Council.

The former Belgrave Electrical Works site on Town Street already had planning permission for eight shops and a new application to build an extra store has been given the go ahead.

A 22,000 sq ft supermarket for discount grocery chain Lidl already has planning permission for the brownfield site, which has been vacant for about 10 years.

Other stores proposed for the site include Poundland, The Vets, Card Factory, Barnardos, Greggs and Fultons.

In a report approving the application, council planning officers said:

“In this case, significant weight is still attached to the fact that the scheme will bring back into use a site that has been vacant for many years and has become an unsightly feature in the streetscene.”

  1. Local roads won’t cope it will turn out just like Kirkstall Bridge shopping park a complete nightmare for moterists.
