Applications to build shared houses in Bramley and Wortley have been approved by Leeds City Council planners.

A retrospective application for change of use of former offices on 279 Upper Town Street in Bramley to form a four-bedroom house in multiple occupation (HMO).

HMOs see people having their own bedrooms and sharing communal facilities such as kitchens and bathrooms.

The Dispatch reported in June how former offices on Upper Town Street will also be transformed into a shared rented house with five bedrooms after plans were approved.

A back-to-back house at 12 Gilpin Terrace in Upper Wortley will be turned into a five-bedroomed HMO. A council planning officer’s report concluded:

“The proposal is not considered to have a significant detrimental impact on neighbouring residential amenity or the character or appearance of the dwelling or street scene.”

The plans can be viewed in full here.
