Pudsey pupil nets medals at Morocco school games

A lower sixth form pupil from Fulneck School in Pudsey was amongst the medals at the International Sports Federation (ISF) World Schools Games in Morocco.

16-year-old Sophie Hobbah won silver in the 200 metres backstroke and bronze in the 4 x 100 metres freestyle relay. She also came a very credible 7th in the final of the 100 metres backstroke.

Sophie was competing as part of the English Schools‘ Swimming Association (ESSA) team at the prestigious event which attracted elite junior athletes from over 40 countries.

She said:

“Having the honour of representing England on the world stage and coming home with two medals has made all the dedication and endless hours of training worthwhile. The whole experience has been incredible and memories and friendships have been created which will last a life time.”

Fulneck School Principal Deborah Newman added:

“Everyone at Fulneck is thrilled for Sophie who is an inspiration to us all. We look forward to hearing more about her achievements and seeing the medals when she returns to school.”
