A Stanningley barber is offering free haircuts to members of the country’s Armed Forces.
Phil Townend from Philip Nicholas Barbers at Stanningley Bottom served 20 years in the Army and is making the offer to coincide with Armed Forces Day in June.
Mr Townend said:
“Armed Forces Day is an opportunity for us to celebrate our Armed Forces and recognise the contribution they make to the way we live and the sacrifices they make in our name, whether that’s time spent away from their family in service of our country or in some cases giving up their lives.
“Armed Forces personnel are reasonably well paid and don’t necessarily need the saving made by a free haircut.
“However it is a small token of our appreciation for their selfless sacrifice in our name. We shall be offering free haircuts to anyone who produces a valid MoD Form 90 (Armed Forces ID card) in the week preceding Armed Forces Day, Sat 30 June 2018.”
