New Wortley: Police appeal after taxi office armed robbery

Detectives are appealing for information following an armed robbery at a taxi office in Leeds today.

Shortly after 2am this morning, officers were called to a report of a robbery at Club Cars, in Driver Terrace, off Wellington Road, New Wortley.

Three males, one armed with what appeared to be handgun and one with a hammer, threatened staff and stole a cashbox containing cash, as well as a handbag, mobile phones and keys from the members of staff.

The suspects, who ran off across the road towards the Clydes, had their faces covered but one was described as being a black male.

Detective Inspector Dave McDougal, of Leeds District CID, said:

“This was a frightening experience for the members of staff involved and we are carrying out extensive enquiries to identify the people responsible.

“We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area and witnessed anything suspicious or anyone who has any information that could assist the investigation.”
