For once Marguerite Walls did not mind working late at the Department of Education and Science office in Pudsey, writes Mark Stevenson.
She had been working extra hours as she was going on holiday the following day.
Marguerite was a keen walker and her daily walk to and from work from her home in Farsley was important to her as she thought it would keep her fit and in practice for the longer walks she liked to go on.
On 20 August 1980 Peter Sutcliffe decided to end Marguerite Walls’ life.
He noticed her walking home and attacked her on New Street, Farsley, dumping her body in a garden. Marguerite was the twelfth victim of The Yorkshire Ripper.
