Mapped: Where Tour De Yorkshire 2019 will cut through West Leeds

The full routes for the 2019 Tour de Yorkshire and Asda Tour de Yorkshire Women’s Race have been unveiled today – and West Leeds will again get a taste of the cycling action.

The fifth edition of the men’s race will take place between 2-5 May 2019, encompassing all four corners of the county and taking in 150 villages, towns and cities along the way. The Asda Tour de Yorkshire Women’s Race will take place between 3-4 May.

Stage 4 of the race on Sunday 5 May will see cyclists pedal through 175km from Halifax through to Leeds, touching on parts of including parts of Kirkstall, Bramley, Armley and Burley.

The route sees cyclists come into Leeds via Otley, through Cookridge and West Park, past the Hawksworth Wood estate, onto Abbey Road and past Kirkstall Abbey.

The route then turns onto Bridge Road, Armley Ridge Road and Cockshott Lane in Bramley, before onto Stanningley Road, Ledgard Way in Armley, Canal Road, Viaduct Road, crossing Kirkstall Road through to Burley Road and into the city centre.

Other routes feature Doncaster to Selby, Barnsley to Bedale and Bridlington to Scarborough. Interactive maps of all the stages can be found here.

Sir Gary Verity, Chief Executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said:

“We’re blessed with such a diversity of landscapes here in Yorkshire to create such challenging and exciting routes and we wanted the parcours to reflect that, showcasing the county in all its glory. There’s something for everyone; the sprinters will get their chance to shine while the classics specialists and climbers will also have opportunities to make their mark.”

The Tour took a similar route through West Leeds on a sunny day earlier this May, with thousands lining the streets.
