Man, 90, in serious condition following Farnley collision

Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision in Farnley, Leeds, yesterday.

Officers were called at 1.33pm to Whincover Drive to reports after a pedestrian was knocked down.

The vehicle, a blue Toyota Auris was travelling on Butterbowl Drive towards the junction with Whincover Drive.

The pedestrian, a 90-year-old man, was crossing the road at the roundabout when the collision occurred.

Police say the driver of the Toyota, a 27-year-old man, initially made off from the scene but returned a short time later. He was arrested in connection with the incident and has been released under investigation.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dash-cam footage of the incident or the vehicle driving in the area prior to the collision to get in contact on 101, quoting log number 879 of 15/10.
