Leeds West 2017 General Election result: Labour’s Rachel Reeves holds seat

Labour’s Rachel Reeves has held the Leeds West seat at the 2017 General Election.

Ms Reeves gained 27,013 votes, easily beating off the challenge of second placed Zoe Metcalfe, with 11,048 votes.

Ms Reeves said it was an honour to serve her constituency, and a party she loved. She said Labour had run:

“A positive campaign … based on hard work we do not just at election times but all year round in our communities.
“Young people are our future and they have voted in huge numbers for the Labour Party. This country’s future is in very safe hands.”

The results in full are:
Mike Davies – Alliance for Green Socialism 47
Ed Jones – The Yorkshire Party 378
Alisdair McGregor – Liberal Democrats 905
Zoe Metcalfe – Conservative 11,048
Andrew Pointon – Green Party 1,023
Rachel Reeves – Labour 27,013
Mark Thackray – UK Independence Party (UKIP) 1,815

Turnout was 62.25%.

In 2015, Ms Reeves gained 18,456 votes – 48 per cent of the vote.
