It feels good to announce the start of our river cleanup season – starting at TCV Hollybush, just across the road from the Kirkstall Bridge pub, writes Phil Marken.

Working from 10am until 2pm, with a tea break in the middle, we are targeting the bank by Abbey fields rugby pitches, which are visible by looking across the river from Kirkstall Abbey grounds. There’s stacks to be done, so please join us and let’s make it a big success!

Last year we hauled over 12 tonnes of waste from the river and the riverbanks, most of it flood debris and some flytipping – and we aren’t stopping there- there is loads to do and every time we spend a day the difference is so visible.

I can’t count how many compliments I have heard of people’s hard work- many many many people who use the riverside paths, canoe in the waterways and commute near the river are all saying the diference is striking so thank you all!

Let’s make the 18th Feb a GREAT start to another GREAT season.

Deepest thanks and hope to see you all there on 18th Feb- and please remember if you come, join us for lunch afterwards. It’s free and a small way that we try and say thank you.
