Kirkstall Lane: Salvation Army hall decision revealed

A former Salvation Army Hall off Kirkstall Lane WILL become flats after councillors gave plans the green light in principle.

The empty building has fallen into disrepair and councillors agreed that it should be demolished and be replaced by 12 flats and car parking.

The decision came despite some local concerns from residents who felt the new flats would be too dominant.

Councillors on the south and west plans panel approved the proposals in principle and deferred to the chief planning officer for a final decision, subject to a number of conditions including the developer paying £38,172 towards providing greenspace off-site and the council entering discussions to provide a public footpath down the side of the proposed development.
