Kirkstall residents are invited to a sunny summer’s walk through Kirkstall Valley – and help shape a vision for the area’s future at the same time.

Kirkstall Neighbourhood Forum is putting together a Neighbourhood Plan for the area, which will help shape future development in the area.

Forum treasurer John Illingworth is encouraging people to explore the Kirkstall Valley to see how the natural area leading into the heart of Leeds can be preserved and improved. He said:

“We have already repeated this walk several times, but on each occasion new faces appear, so we will keep on repeating it until people are satisfied. The Kirkstall riverside is a little gem, surprisingly beautiful and with a little extra work could be very beautiful indeed. There is a tiny fragment of the Yorkshire Dales incorporated into central Leeds.”

The Kirkstall riverside walk will be held on Sunday 8 July, starting from the Morrisons Store Entrance at 2pm.

The forum’s next public meeting will be in the Leeds PSA Club, off Beecroft Street in the Kirkstall District Centre on Monday 17 September starting at 7.30pm. There will be additional meetings around Kirkstall as the group’s membership campaign gets under way.
