A Bramley school is set to undergo £125,000 worth of building work this summer in a bid to accommodate extra pupils in reception from September.

As previously reported, Hollybush Primary School is meeting demand for places by expanding from a two-form entry with 420 pupils, to a three-form entry with 630 pupils.

Initial building work over the summer will be carried out to:

  • Remodel a year one classroom into a reception class
  • Create seperate playground for reception and nursery pupils
  • Change library/ICT suite into a classroom with toilet and cloakroom

This summer’s work is ahead of the main extension work at the school, which is budgeted at around £4 million and was approved by the council’s decision-making executive board in November 2014. The council says exact details of the main expansion work is still being worked out ahead of an anticipated completion date of September 2017.

A report approving the £125,000 expansion can be read in full here.
