Community groups across West Leeds are being encouraged to attend a funders’ fair at Bramley Community Centre this week.

Voluntary Action Leeds, with the support of Leeds Community Foundation, is bringing the fair to the Waterloo Lane centre this Friday, 13 July from 10am-1pm.

The event which is open to any voluntary, community or faith group in the Leeds district, is a chance to meet and talk to funders about your projects and activities.

Fran Graham, of Bramley Community Centre, said

“There are masses of voluntary and community groups just in West Leeds alone who may benefit from this event.

“I see groups delivering amazing work in this area and know how hard they work to do that.

“Some groups may be missing out on funding that’s available to them, which is why we invited VAL to Bramley Community Centre. Friday’s event could help by making it a little bit easier to get the advice and information needed – and we’ll have ice-cream ‘on tap’ to cool everyone down.”

You can find out if your project is eligible for funding and find out how to apply. Drop in to meet a range of funders and support agencies including:

  • Leeds Community Foundation
  • Metcalfe Smith Trust
  • Heritage Lottery Fund
  • Safer Communities Fund
  • Leeds Inspired
  • Yorkshire Sport Foundation
  • Housing Advisory Panel
  • LCC Community Committee
  • Leeds Civic Trust

Support organisations will be there to provide advice and information about their services including:

  • WYCAS
  • Voluntary Action Leeds
  • LCC Funding Support Service

If you are part of a group that has never applied for funding before, you can chat to Kaye Wilson, Funding Advice Worker at Voluntary Action Leeds for guidance on how to get funding-ready.

Bramley Community Centre is run by Bramley Elderly Action, who took over its running from Leeds City Council last year.
