Fun, music and games were the order of the day at Fulneck School’s first ever ‘FulneckFest’.

The independent school’s playing field in the heart of the Moravian Settlement in Pudsey was the setting for a wide range of attractions including a giant inflatable obstacle course and numerous pop-up stalls serving a variety of refreshments.

The event raised £1,400, which will be invested back into the school for the benefit of the pupils.

A packed musical programme featured arrangements by the school’s Junior Brass Band, while ‘The Singing Major’, Keith Tomlinson, performed classic tunes that had Festival goers dancing long into the evening.

Games including rounders and Australian cricket were also thoroughly enjoyed and keenly contested.

In addition to the many day visitors who came along to the inaugural fundraising event several families paid to pitch their tent on the field and enjoyed the full festival experience with a night under canvas.

Victoria Hallas-Fawcett, chair of the Parents and Friends Association (PFA) who organised the event, said:

“The turnout amongst parents, pupils and teachers was fantastic and helped ensure the event was a tremendous success and definitely exceeded our expectations.

“As well as raising money for school funds it was the perfect way to start the new school year and achieve our main objective of bringing everyone together and developing relationships in a fun and relaxed environment.”
