More than 220 runners braved the rain to take part in the inaugural Bramley Parkrun.

The fun 5km event, run completely by volunteers, will be held every Saturday at 9am in Bramley Park. And runners didn’t let the wet weather get them down.

Runners were have been quick to praise the event, over on the Parkrun Facebook page.

Runner Stacey Kite said:

We thought it was great! Three generations were running from my family today. Well done to all involved.”

Duncan Reed added:

Great little course; well done to everyone who has made this happen. Farsley Flyers will definitely be back on a regular basis.”

And Louis Dawson added: “We really enjoyed taking part in the first ever Bramley Park Run yesterday, even if it was a bit wet!”

Organisers ‘Team Bramley’ added:

“I would like to thank everyone for turning at our inaugural event. It was a pleasure watching you all running the course for the first time. A big thank you to all the volunteers it wouldn’t be possible without them, and a big thank you to Ronnie Bray parkrun ambassador. See you all next week!”

Saturday’s Parkrun results have been released. Congratulations to Gregan Hartson, from Kingston Upon Hull, who finished first with a time of 16 minutes, 57 seconds.

UPDATE: Parkrun organisers have uopdated their website with a report on yesterday’s event, putting the final total of runners at 227. We’ve updated this post accordingly.
