Farsley Celtic progressed through to the next round of the West Riding County Cup as they defeated Liversedge 3-2 in a thriller at Throstle Nest,  writes Tom Ritchie.

Steve Wales came close early on for Liversedge as they started the brighter with his long-range strike being tipped onto the crossbar by Graeme McKibbin.

Shortly after Jordan Deacey was forced off injured before Lewis Nightingale flicked over to Peter Davidson, whose shot was deflected just wide.

Moments later Nightingale saw his shot deflected before Christian Thewlis made a great reaction save to tip over the bar.

The game then took a twist right on the brink of half time as Richard Marshall fired into the top corner from inside the box as Farsley took the lead.

Jacob Hazel doubled the lead early on in the second half as he fired home into the bottom corner from 25 yards out with a supreme strike.

Farsley continued to control the game and almost secured the victory as Alex Davidson saw his effort superbly tipped onto the post by Thewlis.

Alex Davidson then had another glorious chance after a delightful ball over the top from Ross Daly picked him out and put him through on goal however his effort was straight at Thewlis.

Liversedge then got back in the game against the run of play as Vaughan Redford slotted home into the bottom corner.

Redford secured his brace as Liversedge levelled the game, prodding home at the back post to stun The Celts.

However, immediately after Farsley retook the lead as Richard Marshall squared to Alex Davidson who slotted home.

Liversedge had a glorious chance to make it 3-3 as Vaughan Redford played through Adam Porritt who rounded McKibbin only to put the ball wide of the target, and spurn the final chance Liversedge had to level.
