Next up for The Celts is an FA Trophy tie with National League North side Tamworth FC at Throstle Nest and the chance of a big upset, writes Thomas Ritchie.

Farsley come into this game on the back of an important 2-0 win over Glossop North End to move up to second in the Evo-Stik Division 1 North.

This means Farsley are now eight games unbeaten in all competitions and head into this game full of confidence.

To reach this stage of the competition Farsley have defeated Radcliffe Borough (3-1), Mossley AFC (3-1) and taken the scalp of Evo-Stik Premier Division side Barwell (3-2) all on their travels so it will be a welcome return to Throstle Nest for The Celts.

Manager Neil Parsley told the FA website:

“We have a lot of momentum with us and we enter the game full of confidence.”

On the injury front Farsley will be without Alex Davidson who has a hamstring injury, and the game may come too soon for Ryan Serrant who’s comeback is not far away.

Like Farsley, Tamworth are also on a fantastic run of form and have snuck under the radar somewhat to reach fifth place in the National League North table.

The Lambs enter this competition on the back of a five game unbeaten run which includes impressive victories over promotion hopefuls AFC Fylde (1-0) and Darlington 1883 (2-1).

Tamworth also possess the second top scorer in the division Dan Newton, who is behind only the unstoppable Danny Rowe. Newton has 14 league goals to his name this season and has been selected for Jamie Vardy’s V9 Academy which will give non-league footballers the chance to follow in Vardy’s footsteps.

Ahead of the game Tamworth manager Andy Morrell said:

“We know it’s going to be a really tough game as Farsley are going really well in the league. We will have to be very focused and have the right attitude to get something from the game.”

So why not come down and cheer on your local side at Throstle Nest, postcode LS28 5BE? The game kicks off at 3pm and admission prices are £7 adults, £4 concessions and £1 U16s. We look forward to seeing you at the ground!
