Farsley Celtic 0 Burscough 3

Farsley Celtic slumped to their first defeat of 2016 as they failed to win for the fourth consecutive game, with Burscough coming out as 3-0 victors, writes Thomas Ritchie.

Burscough had the first chance of the game when Will Jones had an effort well blocked by Kyle Harrison on the edge of the six yard box. Burscough then took the lead just after the half hour mark after Farsley gave the ball away and failed to clear their lines before Will Smart curled a delightful effort past Farsley ‘keeper Tom Taylor and into the top corner.

Will Jones then doubled Burscough’s after Taylor made a smart save from Joesph Whittington’s shot before Jones inventively chipped the ball into the net. Farsley’s first clear cut opportunity of the game fell to Aiden Savory in the dying seconds of the half but he could only direct his header straight at Burscough’s Hare who made a comfortable save.

After some clever play by Paul Walker Farsley had a chance to mount a fightback as Aiden Savory latched onto Walker’s through ball however he failed to find the target as he fired inches wide. Just after the hour mark Burscough secured all three points as a loose ball dropped to Nicholas Ryan in the box who smashed the ball past the despairing Taylor to send Farsley packing after a miserable performance.
