Six derelict garages which have been acting as a magnet for anti-social behaviour in Bramley will be demolished.

The council has agreed to demolish the disused garages at Summerfield Gardens amid concerns from residents over their deteriorating condition.

A council report, which says the garages also contain asbestos, adds:

“The current condition of these garages has given rise to concern in the community with regular complaints of anti-social behaviour and are a potential health and safety risk.

“The garages and associated structures on site are in a serious state of dereliction with broken or insecure doors and the structures contain asbestos. The early demolition of these properties will remove these issues.”

The cost for demolition and removal of rubbish and asbestos is £10,625.

It is currently being established whether the council-owned site has any potential for sale on the open market.

  1. These garages were supposed to be demolished over 7 years ago as they were in a state of disrepair and a local hangout spot for vandals back then. The council had the cheek to offer me one of these run down insecure eyesores or they said I could wait for the new ones to be built which was apparently on their agenda. Luckily I was offered one in a different location a couple of years later. It just goes to show how long LCC actually take to action these schemes. I honestly thought these had been demolished years ago.
