An application for a licence to sell alcohol on Armley Town Street will be considered by the Leeds council’s licensing committee this morning.

Applicant Ahmad Adnan Ali wants to sell alcohol from Potraviny International Foods at 9 Town Street between 8am and 10pm daily.

There have been a number of objections to the application, including Armley Community Forum, Leeds West MP Rachel Reeves and Armley councillors Alison Lowe and Jim McKenna.

Concerns centre around claims that the area already has problems with street drinking and anti-social behaviour. Read all the objections in full here.

The Town Street area is to be subject of a cumulative impact policy, which will make it more difficult for new off licences to be granted. As reported by The Dispatch, the policy has been given the go ahead by the council’s licensing committee, but it is still to be rubberstamped by June’s meeting of full council.

You can read in full the report to be considered by councillors.
