New Wortley Community Arts are working with Interplay Theatre to put on the musical Oliver! to performed at Interplay from the 13th to 15th December, writes Tim Dawtry.

We are putting together a community cast for a large-scale production of the famous musical. We are going to set the action in Leeds rather than London and give it more of a gritty, steampunk/Gothic feel – with the songs and dialogue rooted in Leeds dialect – rather than cheeky ‘cockernee’.

We are holding auditions this coming Saturday and Monday for adults and young people aged over 11.

We are also looking for people to be involved in the production, design and backstage teams.

No experience is necessary, but commitment and enthusiasm are essential – we want this to be an opportunity for people to learn new skills and to be part of an ambitious, creative project. We have a team of skilled practitioners on board to assist.
at 7pm.
For the principle roles, we are prioritising people from the LS12 and LS13 postcode areas.

Auditions are on Saturday 22 September at 1pm at Grasmere Court for young people aged 11 to 16, Monday September 24 at New Wortley Community Centre at 7pm.

Book your place with Tim at tim.dawtry@newwortleycc.org or call 0790 3463776.
