Armley Café Politique offers a chance to debate current social and political issues. Here, convener RICHARD HONEY previews a one-off special not in Armley itself but at the University City Centre Campus…

It’s called “IS A ‘PROGRESSIVE BREXIT’ POSSIBLE?” and runs on Friday, 17 November, from 2–3.30pm

The event features:

  • Hilary Benn MP, Labour MP for Leeds Central and Chair of the House of Commons Committee, speaking on Exiting the European Union
  • Jon Bloomfield, Honorary research fellow at Birmingham University and author of The Left and Brexit: Facing up to the realities of an interdependent world
  • Chair: Dr Sophia Price, Head of Politics and International Relations, Leeds Beckett University

It’s being held at Leeds Beckett University, Calverley Bdg. Rm 113, LS1 3HE

Entry is FREE but it’s essential to register in advance.

According to Theresa May ‘Brexit means Brexit’. But the clock is ticking, negotiations have not been going well, the government is at odds with itself and has not set out a clear vision of Brexit, and there is talk of preparing for a ‘no deal’ outcome.

In this situation can an alternative ‘progressive Brexit’ be formulated? And can it be achieved?
