Plans for a major development of 54 homes in Pudsey have been submitted by developers.

Applicant Berkely Deveer want to build the homes – with 93 parking spaces – at land off Galloway Lane in Pudsey.

The development would be a mix of two, three and four bedroom properties.

A planning statement by the developers which accompanies the application says the development would ‘boost the supply of housing in Leeds, where there is presently a significant shortfall’. It adds:

“This statement clearly demonstrates there would be no such adverse impacts or specific policies, and there are a number of significant material benefits that will flow from the granting of planning permission,
including:

“Delivering 50 family dwellings in a sustainable and suitable location, including affordable housing.

“Transforming an unkempt site into a high quality and attractive residential scheme, and thus vastly improving the local context.”

The plans can be viewed in full – and commented upon – on Leeds City Council’s planning portal.

  1. I wonder where the entrance to this new estate will be? I live opposite this site, on Alder Drive, and turning right towards Pudsey is sometimes hard, but now we will have extra cars coming out opposite us, making it even more tricky! Opposite Alder Drive is the only feasible place it seems, as there’s the junction of Owlcotes Road only yards away!

    • Will we have a pelican crossing on galloway lane outside the shops aand this road is getting so busy plus a cut through onto chatsworth road is like a dual carriageway

  2. Is the term unkempt land a diversion from greenbelt again we see large companys getting planning permission on land which is greenbelt. But the council uses the excuse that that cannot afford to fight a expensive legal battle. And before any one says the council wouldn’t do that there are at least one i know of and have read it on the planning portal. Also they will say it was land earmarked for development which just means they have taken it out of greenbelt. I applied to build a property on a (unkempt piece of land and was refused ) that’s because Leeds planning can give us the run around and of course make life difficult and wear us down and refuse us the rite to build if I had the funds I would go legal with the fight . But they know that so we are easy to discriminate against.
